Tricentis Tosca

Tricentis Tosca is a model-based test automation platform that covers SAP (GUI, Fiori, SuccessFactors, Ariba, Concur, S/4HANA, ECC), Salesforce, Oracle, ServiceNow, Workday, web, mobile, API, and mainframe in one tool. Its defining feature is model-based authoring: tests describe what is being tested separately from how it is being tested, which reduces maintenance cost significantly when UIs change.

Tosca is also the engine under SAP Enterprise Continuous Testing (SAP ECT). SAP-dominant customers often buy the SAP-branded SAP ECT edition. Customers whose scope includes substantial non-SAP or who already hold Tricentis contracts buy standalone Tosca. Merito sells both directly.

What determines whether Tosca succeeds is framework design, not license size. Merito's engagement starts with module library architecture and data orchestration in the first thirty days. That discipline is what keeps tests aging well.

Merito has seen customers buy large Tricentis Tosca contracts, write a few hundred tests, and find themselves with an automation estate more expensive to maintain than the manual testing it replaced. That is a framework failure, not a tool failure. Tosca is model-based for a reason: if the module library and data orchestration are designed right, tests age well. If they are authored like scripts, they do not.

For SAP-dominant scope, Merito often recommends customers evaluate the SAP-branded SAP ECT edition instead of standalone Tosca. The engine is identical, and the difference is packaging and SAP alignment. For mixed or non-SAP-heavy scope, standalone Tosca is usually the right call.
